Web Development

  • Developed sites with CafeLog b2 since approximately 2002, switching to its successor, WordPress. Worked with WordPress since 2004, effectively as long as it has existed; worked with every major version, including WordPress Multisite & building on WordPress as an application framework.

Telecommunications

  • Pioneered in rural broadband deployments, building a wireless ISP network covering over 10,000 KM² from more than 20 points of presence using licensed and unlicensed radio spectrum.
  • Used private/municipal partnerships in building ISP infrastructure, business planning, network design, equipment selection, and build project management. Earliest project was featured in a case study for Industry Canada on successfully deploying rural broadband in Canada.
  • Consultation on market analysis, business cases, and broadband network design for clients such as Greater Peterborough Area Economic Development Corporation & Northwest Community Futures Development Corporation.
  • Provider to other ISPs for networking, routing, and internet gateway, including wireless network expansion projects in Rosenort, Roseau River, Fisher River, St. Pierre, and Swan River areas of Manitoba.

Custom Software Development

  • Managed software consulting services for development of desktop, client/server, and database applications for private organizations and Provincial Government departments, both directly and as a preferred partner for Sybase, Inc.
  • Business needs analysis for software products, including in-house project for all aspects of managing an ISP, from provisioning and billing to contact and relationship management with support for remote monitoring and management of equipment and staff time tracking.

Insurance Industry

  • Earned professional designation of C.A.I.B.
  • Developed expertise in auto insurance for trucking fleets and other complex risks.
  • Unusual at the brokerage level, held underwriting authority for an insurer for developing products, setting rates, and writing policy wordings, consistently generating an underwriting profit.
  • Developed insurance policy coverages for high-value properties and unique situations including fine art collections and subscription policies to spread risk between multiple insurance carriers.

Business Development

  • Managed business growth in partnership with Scott Toderash for over 25 years.
  • Exercised business acquisition strategy for business growth: xLab Interactive (2014), Cohesive Marketing / HEP Communications (2017), Modern Earth (2021), WebHog / World Wide Web Manitoba (2023), and HPX Media (2025) in addition to client acquisitions from xGSC Global Server Center (2015), Winnipeg's Creative Studio (2019), Ayoko Design (2020), Winn Marketing (2021) and Oxygen Technical Services (2022).
  • Provided strategic direction for web hosting, managed services, and web development operations, including platform selection, architecture, and product development.
  • Co-founded web host focused on fully-managed WordPress services in 2012, early to market for this niche.
  • Managed expansion of broadband wireless network to cover 10,000 km².
